A guided tour of Castelvetrano will be to discover the architectural layout and beauty of the city, its origins, and its churches and the system of Piazzas. The city was created in medieval age and grew substantially with many public operas been constructed in the XVI Century. Just outside the city we visit the fascinating Cuba di Delia, or Church of the Holy Trinity. Built in the 12th Century by the Normans in the Arab-Bizantine style; the church is the only one in Sicily, with its central structure of a dome resting on a square tambour and in the shape of a Greek cross still intact today.
Welcomed by the historic family, the owners of the church, it is possible to enjoy a lunch based on the local specialities in the nearby Baglio Trinita’, an ancient Sicilian country demeure set in a magnificent garden abundant with Cicas, Dragon trees, century old trees and rare palms; or enjoy an aperitif in the beautiful park.
The city is also known as the city of olives and temples, with the “Nocellara di Belice” olive widely grown here and the presence of Selinunte’s temples.
