An 11-days (10 nights) itinerary crossing Sicily from West to East. Immerse yourself into intense live of capital Palermo, steeped in history, architecture, culture and gastronomy. Cross the centre of the island visiting off-the-beaten-path towns of Enna and Piazza Armerina before arriving at Caltagirone, capital of ceramics. Discover the beauty of Baroque Modica, Ragusa, Noto and Syracuse. Finish your journey among Etna vineyards and vibrant festive nightlife in Catania



Day 1 - Welcome to Palermo | guided tour of old town

We will meet at our hotel in Palermo at 3pm and will check-in. After the welcome meeting we will go on a guided walk through Palermo old town at the end of which we will enjoy our first dinner together.

Day 2 - Visit of food market | Cooking class at noble palace | Evening walk

In the morning we will meet our host Nicoletta at the market where we will buy the ingredients for the cooking class. We will then walk together to her palace, which has been residence of Tomasi di Lampedusa (author of The Leopard). Nicoletta and her husband (Lampedusa's son) are actually living there. She will introduce us in the history of the palace while preparing the ingredients for the lunch. In the afternoon you will have a free time in Palermo. Visit one of its splendid museums, have a walk through the Kalsa neighbour or do some shopping in Via Libertà. After dinner we will have an evening walk with our local guide.

Day 3 - Salt museum | Madonie | Cheese Tasting | Enna

In the morning we will head to Enna. We'll have a stop at the incredible Mineral Salt Cave, still in function. On the Madonie we will stop by a local cheese maker where we will have lunch tasting the products. Head to Enna, we will arrive at our Agriturismo where we will have our dinner.

Day 4 - Guided visit Enna | Arancini Tasting | Villa Romana del Casale | Piazza Armerina

In the morning we will visit Enna, the Belvedere of Sicily. After visitng the Norman Castello Lombardia, we will have a walk to Torre Federico. Just in front, Rosario will welcome us at his Rosticceria where we will have a tasting of a selection of Arancini, probably the best in whole Sicily. In the afternoon, head to Piazza Armerina, where our guide will accompany us on a tour of the Villa Romana del Casale, with its precious mosaics. We will then stop at Piazza Armerina, medieval town where we will have dinner.

Day 5 - Caltagirone | Ceramic Workshop | Guided visit | Ragusa

In the morning, on our way to Modica, we will have a stop at Caltagirone, the Sicilian capital of pottery. The Master Potter will welcome us to his workshop and offer a course where we will model our own piece of ceramic. You will also learn about the history related to the local pottery tradition. We will have lunch at a Michelin Starred Restaurant being delighted by Sicilian contemporary cuisine. After a short visit of the town, filled with beautiful ceramicswe will resume our travel and arrive at Modica. For your dinner you will be spoilt for choice as Modica has plenty of good restaurants.

Day 6 - Ragusa Ibla | Cooking class | Modica | Chocolate Tasting

In the morning you will visit fascinating Modica, with its stunning and magnificent Duomo di San Giorgio. The old town is divided into two parts, Modica Alta set on the ridge and Modica Bassa down in the valley. In between, the houses cling onto the steep slopes between the two parts of the city. During the visit you will stop at the oldest chocolate factory in Sicily, where you will have a delicious chocolate tasting. For lunch you will taste, in the local Rosticceria, Scacce and Pastizzi, typical of Modica. In the early afternoon you will discover charming Ragusa and Ragusa Ibla. In Ragusa you will visit two local artists who have recovered the traditional decoration of the Carretto Siciliano, the old ornate and coloured carts drawn by horses or donkeys. After, you will have a free evening in Ragusa Ibla.

Day 7 - Wine tasting | Pastry Shop in Noto | Siracusa

On our way to Siracusa, we will have a stop at the Noto Doc area, tasting the precious wines of a boutique winery. We will have lunch together with the wine tasting. Afterwards we will ride to Noto, where we will have a walk admiring the Baroque facades with their duzzling facades. Arriving at Siracusa, our driver will leave us at Ortigia where we will check-in at our hotel. Free time to rest, have a free walk at your pace and have dinner where you please.

Day 8 - Morning visit Ortigia | Olive Oil Tasting | Teatro Pupi

In the morning we will have a guided walk of Ortygia, that will end at the food market. There we will visit Claudio, who will show us the art of traditional basketry. He also cultivates and collects wild herbs that he sells at the market. We will then go to the outskirts of Syracuse, to visit an olive farm. We will have a walk through the groves and have a professional taste of the oil. A homemade lunch will be served in a relaxed and familiar atmosphere. we will then go back to Syracuse where we will attend the Teatro dei Pupi show after wich we will have a free night on the island of Ortygia. Go for one of the amazing Greek theatre classical permormance or have a walk on the romantic promenade along the sea.

Day 9 - Head to Etna | Visit at Vineyard | Wine Tasting

Head to Mount Etna, we will have a stop visiting a marvellous garden in a very fertile area South of Catania, where oranges are grown. We will have a light lunch under the shadow of the magnificent trees. We will then resume the trip arriving at our hotel in the aftenoon. After checking- in we will visit the vineyard. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 10 - Etna hike | Catania guided visit | Farewell Dinner

The last day will be a precious day of discovery of the Etna Volcano. Our nature guide will lead us on a hike, after which, we will enjoya picnic lunch. We will then go to Catania where we will have our last night. A short walk through the city centre with our local guide before having our last dinner together and a special last night.

Day 11 - Last morning | Transfer to Catania Airport

After breakfast we will be transferred to the airport.
